QUESTION 1 of 2: The correct answer was “A” and “C”

Legacy work is essential in that it allows an individual and their family to articulate what elements of their life are worthy of remembering. It’s a review of what stories, what attributes, what values and ethics make up the fabric of their existence. This inquiry is important because it allows one to name where our dignity resides, where our biggest life lessons source from, and how we want to be remembered. Remembering the end-of-life doula “scope of practise”, doulas are not to involve themselves in financial matters with a client. This legacy consideration should be held by the clients accountant, financial planner, etc.

QUESTION 2of 2:  The correct answer was “C”

When supporting experiences around illness and the end of life, it’s essential that doulas do not assume that everyone is heterosexual or cisgender (a term that describes individuals whose gender identity, and/or gender expression align with their biological or assigned sex), or that they subscribe to more traditional forms of partnership, etc. Asking about one’s important people allows a client to share as much as they desire about their core relationships, without making assumptions about their private life, their family of choice, etc. Instead of making assumptions and questioning from these assumptions, it’s best that we engage through the use of respectful and open guiding questions that help us consider and integrate appropriate and culturally sensitive approaches to care.
