Online Funeral Celebrant Course

Sacred Passage’s parent organisation, Celebrant Training Australia, offers an Online Funeral Celebrant Course designed by qualified Cert IV Trainers and Assessors who collectively bring over 70 years of combined experience within the funeral industry.

Online Funeral Celebrant Course

The greatest privilege and most emotionally rewarding role for a celebrant is to share a life story — to write and celebrate the final chapter and immortalise a memory for all gathered. A funeral is the true celebration of a person’s life: the defining moment that reflects the sum of their years — their story, their loves, their friendships, their achievements. It is a celebration for everyone they have loved or touched throughout their life’s journey.

Sacred Passage’s parent organisation, Celebrant Training Australia (Est. 2018), offers three Funeral Celebrant course formats:

(Please note you will be redirected to “Celebrant Training Australia’s” website)

  1. Online Funeral Celebrant Course
  2. 3-Day Consecutive Intensive Celebrant Course via Zoom
  3. Funeral Compendium:  “The Art of Funeral Services”

Why Add the Online End-of-Life Doula Course?

A powerful complement to the Funeral Celebrant Course

For celebrants wishing to deepen their understanding of the end-of-life journey — and to provide more holistic, compassionate support for families — the Sacred Passage Online End-of-Life Doula Training Course is the perfect complement to your Funeral Celebrants’ training.

By completing both trainings, you can enrich your practice and expand your professional offerings in meaningful ways:

Benefits of pairing the End-of-Life Doula Course with the Funeral Celebrant Course

  • Deepen your understanding of the dying process, giving you richer insight into the emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of individuals and families before death occurs.

  • Build stronger relationships with families by offering support earlier in the journey, creating a foundation of trust that naturally continues through to the funeral ceremony.

  • Craft more authentic, personalised funeral services informed by real-time experiences, conversations, and legacy work shared during the end-of-life phase.

  • Provide continuity of care — supporting families before, during, and after death, rather than stepping in only at the time of the funeral.

  • Enhance your empathy and communication skills, allowing you to hold space with deeper presence, understanding, and confidence.

  • Expand your professional scope with dual qualifications that set you apart as a holistic end-of-life and funeral practitioner.

  • Offer families a more integrated, heart-centred experience, as you can guide them through vigils, planning, bereavement support, and the creation of a meaningful farewell.

  • Strengthen your role as a community resource, bridging the gap between end-of-life support and ceremonial leadership.

Together, the Online Funeral Celebrant Course and the Online End-of-Life Doula Training Course empower you to serve families with compassion, continuity, and confidence — honouring a life’s final chapter with both practical skill and heartfelt presence.

Funeral Course Details:

For our 3-Day Consecutive Zoom Funeral Course (held each April and September), each participant will receive both a hard copy Course Manual and a PDF online manual.

For our Online Funeral Celebrant Course each participant will receive a PDF Course manual.

Once either course and all assessments have been successfully completed, you will be ready, the next day, to take a booking call, interview a grieving family, prepare the service and present the service respectfully, professionally and confidently.  Our Funeral Courses meet the industry standards to “Plan, Present and Evaluate Funeral and Memorial Services” and “Work Effectively in the Funeral Services Industry”. You will have the support of your trainers every step of the way!

“The Art of Funeral Services” is a PDF download of the course materials with no assessments required nor a Certificate of Attainment issued.

These three options will give you the knowledge, skills and the resources to be recognised as an absolute professional within the funeral industry.

What is the benefit of completing a Funeral Training Course?

In Australia anyone has the opportunity to present a funeral service for friends, relatives or colleagues, although should you wish to be considered a ‘professional’ in the funeral industry you need to have the knowledge a funeral director is looking for in a celebrant.

The needs of the client family must always by the priority and, once completed, our Funeral Celebrant Training Course will have fully prepared you to thoughtfully liaise with a grieving family and fully understand the many alternatives that are available to the family.

Their infinite experience in the funeral industry and enthusiasm and willingness to share their experiences will benefit us all.
